The Galil: A Rifle, a Region, and Our Name

The Galil: A Rifle, a Region, and Our Name

Galil Coffee

Our name carries two meanings, and we chose it for both.

The region

The Galilee — HaGalil — is Israel's rugged north: basalt hills, olive terraces, ancient stone villages. It's land that rewards persistence, which is a fair description of everyone who lives there.

The rifle

The Galil is Israel's legendary battle rifle, developed in the late 1960s by Yisrael Galil at Israel Military Industries after the Six-Day War, when Israel decided it would rely on its own designs. It became a symbol of self-reliance: built at home, trusted in the field.

Why a coffee company took the name

Because both meanings say the same thing: strength that comes from your own soil. We roast bold coffee, box it in Field Issue packaging, and say plainly what most brands won't — we support Israel, we support the IDF, and we're proud Zionists.

Start with Uzi Espresso. You'll understand.
