May 14, 2025: On May 14, 2025, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez told the Spanish Parliament "Nosotros no comerciamos con un estado genocida" ("We do not do business with a genocidal state") — the first time he used the word "genocidal" for Israel — and on September 8, 2025 his government announced a full arms embargo on Israel (barring weapons-carrying aircraft from Spanish airspace and fuel ships from Spanish ports, among other measures).

Where Galil stands
Our opinion: We don't stand with a government that calls Israel a "genocidal state" in Parliament and backs it with a total arms embargo, with no word for the hostages or October 7.
