Lush Cosmetics: Gaza Fundraising and Store Protest
Lush has run public fundraising campaigns for Gaza and closed its UK stores in protest against Israel.
On the record
- July 2024 — Launched a “Watermelon Slice” soap (the watermelon is widely used as a symbol of Palestinian solidarity); Lush said 100% of profits would fund professional mental-health support and trauma counseling for children in Gaza and the West Bank. [Arab News]
- September 3, 2025 — Closed its UK shops, website, and factories for one day and displayed “Stop starving Gaza” messaging, while calling on the UK government to halt arms sales to Israel. [Lush statement] [The Guardian]
The context
We list Lush's official corporate actions only. Individual stores displayed "Boycott Israel" signs on occasion, but Lush publicly disavowed those as not representing the company and had them removed — so we don't attribute them to the brand.
Where Galil stands
Our opinion: Galil views Lush’s corporate campaigns as one-sided and disagrees with them. The factual record is that Lush raised funds for Gaza and temporarily closed stores as a political protest; neither action, by itself, is presented here as proof of antisemitism.
The facts on this page are documented public statements and actions, sourced and linked, current as of July 2026. Everything under "Where Galil stands" is our opinion. If you believe a factual claim here is inaccurate or out of date, email us and we'll review and correct it promptly.
