• Late 2019 — Told the American Muslims for Palestine conference that critics should ask progressive Zionists how they can oppose “white supremacy in America… but then you support a state like Israel that is based on supremacy, that is built on the idea that Jews are supreme to everyone else.” [Times of Israel]

The context

Sarsour publicly clarified afterward that she was referring to Israel’s 2018 nation-state law, not to Jewish people. We include that clarification.

Our opinion: “Jews are supreme to everyone else” is language that lands a long way from a policy critique. She clarified; we still don’t stand with it.
