Kneecap: On the Record

A Kneecap member was filmed saying “Up Hamas, up Hezbollah” while displaying a Hezbollah flag. The group denies supporting either organization, and related UK proceedings ended without a conviction.

On the record

  • 2024 — A band member was filmed draped in a Hezbollah flag chanting “Up Hamas, up Hezbollah.” [ADL]
  • April–July 2025 — Displayed “Israel is committing genocide” at Coachella. Police opened a separate investigation into the group’s Glastonbury performance and closed it in July without further action. [CNN] [ABC News]
September 2025–March 2026 — A separate terrorism charge concerning the Hezbollah-flag incident was dismissed because it had been brought outside the statutory time limit. The High Court upheld that dismissal and stated that the result was neither a conviction nor an acquittal. [The Guardian]

The context

The band says it does not support Hamas or Hezbollah. The dismissed charge concerned the November 2024 flag incident, not the Coachella statement, and ended on a filing-time issue rather than a factual verdict.

Where Galil stands

Our opinion: Chanting for two U.S.-designated terror organizations from a festival stage is not a grey area. We don’t stand with them.
