Jamaal Bowman: On the Record

Former Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) publicly cast doubt on the documented Oct. 7 sexual violence against Israelis.

On the record

  • Nov. 17, 2023 — At a rally said of the Oct. 7 sexual-violence reports, “there’s still no evidence of beheaded babies or raped women, but they still keep using that lie,” calling it “propaganda.” [Washington Examiner] [Fox News]

The context

Bowman apologized in June 2024, stating “The UN confirmed that Hamas committed rape and sexual violence, a reprehensible fact that I condemn entirely,” and noted he voted for H.Res. 966 condemning that violence. We include that in full.

Where Galil stands

Our opinion: Denying the rape of Israeli women to a cheering crowd is a low worth remembering, even with the later apology. We don’t stand with him.
