Academic Associations That Voted to Boycott Israel
A number of U.S. academic and professional associations have formally voted to boycott Israeli academic institutions.
On the record
- December 2013 — American Studies Association (ASA) — members voted (about 66%) to endorse the boycott. [ASA]
- April 2013 — Association for Asian American Studies — the first U.S. academic association to endorse the boycott. [USACBI]
- 2023 — American Anthropological Association (AAA) — members voted to boycott Israeli academic institutions. [JTA]
- Various — Middle East Studies Association (MESA), the African Literature Association, Association for Humanist Sociology, Critical Ethnic Studies Association, National Association of Chicana and Chicano Studies, Native American and Indigenous Studies Association, the Peace and Justice Studies Association, and the labor locals UAW 2865 and UAW 2110 (GSOC) have all endorsed the academic boycott of Israel.
